A labour of love

When loft conversion specialist Jim Isaacs decided to use his experience and skills on his own home, he did so in style.

As the Managing Director of Access Loft in Stockport, it was as Jim explains, a true labour of love. “Most existing homes have a potential way beyond what the majority of people imagine and mine was no different. I couldn’t wait to start.”

Jim’s main reason for taking on the project was twofold. Firstly, he had a growing family to accommodate. And secondly, he’d decided a few years back that home would be the ideal base for his successful and ever-expanding business.

Natural light and fresh air were key to his plans. As Jim enthuses, “Basically, I wanted to bring the outside in, and for me VELUX was the only choice”. As you’ll see in the following pictures that’s exactly what’s been achieved.

Take the home office that sits above Jim’s garage space. With the clever use of VELUX Centre-Pivot GGL windows atmosphere and light have been added not only to Jim’s workspace, but also to the adjacent stairwell area.

The same dramatic effect has been achieved in the two living rooms. Once again, GGL windows have been used with flair and imagination. This time, however, in combination. The result? Daylight has been maximised to its fullest potential, reaching even the kitchen. Plus, the mature trees in Jim’s attractive garden now form a majestic backdrop.
