Building the dream home

Ten years ago, one couple from Stockport decided that this was going to be their dream family home. To most people, this run down old building would be nothing more than a lost cause. To Jim and Kath Isaacs however, it was a blank canvas on which to put all the ideas they had collected from over 20 years in the building trade.

“We found out the place was ours on the Friday. We chatted about the plans over the weekend and by Monday we were ready to apply for planning permission.” Kath Isaacs

Getting all of the thinking done upfront is key to the success of any self-build project. After all, it’s easier, quicker and more cost-effective to change your mind before you start to build.

Jim and Kath set up Access Loft back in July 2000 specialising in conversions, new builds and renovations. With first hand building experience of the nearby area, they made sure their project complied with the required building regulations. Which was one of the crucial factors in helping to blend the property with the rest of the neighbourhood.
